Validation Cup

Validation Cup

About us

We are a Golf Group here in Allen / Plano that play a SKINS Game Format three days a week (weather permitting). Collin County Golf Courses fear us even while we have a great time playing them. We hit sand wedges 200 yards (but only out of greenside bunkers). The agony of three putts is swept away by those birdies that win skins (or that very rare hole in one).

If you are an AVID Golfer looking to improve his game by playing competitive golf and sharing the joys / miseries of this great game, then you should contact us. We do enjoy cold beer together on golf days, while telling many stories about the day in the 19th hole restaurant.

Additional details about SKINS group

**Play Wednesday afternoons, Saturday mornings, and Sundays

**We play SKINS with full handicaps (GHIN) with a “catch” which is the skin (low score on the hole in the entire group) must be followed by a net Par by the golfer on the next hole for Validation.

**On golf days when you can join with us, it is only a single $20 entry fee to be in the pot. 100% of the day’s skins entry fees are paid out to the winners.

**Each foursome plays side games of either a $5 Nassau team game or a $1 Wolf Game.

**Primarily play the Courses at Watters Creek on Saturday mornings and other North Texas courses on the other days particularly Pecan Hollow in Plano.

**You may bring guests (relative, neighbor, business associate) on golf days if space is available. You would be responsible for your guest’s handicap.

**The roots of the original Skins Group can be traced all the way back to 2004 at the old Chase Oaks golf course (pre-Watters Creek).

Additional details about the VALIDATION CUP

**If you become a regular playing member with the group, then you are eligible to be invited to join us in our spring and fall Validation Cup Tournament (which is modeled after the Ryder Cup).

**For the Validation Cup, the group is drafted into two teams by the two opposing captains.

**We play 18 holes of Two Man Best Ball on Saturday morning followed by 18 holes of Alternate Shot that afternoon. Sunday mornings wrap up with the critical fourteen individual singles matches exactly like the real Ryder Cup.

**The Validation Cup has become our major highlight twice a year. The original idea came from Brian Cano and Glenn Staley in 2018.

**The VC is great competition with a little money at stake, but the all-important bragging rights for six months are what’s most important to the winners.
